"Smoking Or Non-Smoking"

by Wilbert K. Mitchner,Jr.

As I sit in my dorm from day to day, I notice a lot of my fellow inmates smoking. I often wonder if they really know why they smoke. So I decided to ask a few of them, "Why do you smoke?".

The first inmate stated, "He was smoking just to pass time," but he could stop whenever he wanted. The second inmate stated, "Smoking calms his nerves." The third inmate stated, "He didn't know why he smoked."

The last inmate stated, "It's good to smoke after you eat because it helps your food digest." I don't know where he got that information.

The reason I asked those questions: When I see a person smoking, it reminds me of how Hell is going to be-- meaning full of smoke and fire (Rev. 14-11). God has only two eternal sections, non-smoking or smoking, meaning Heaven or Hell. As for myself, I am on my way to the non-smoking section which is Heaven.

Remember the twin cities of Sodom and Gomorrah? (Gen. 18:1-19:38) Except for Lot, his wife, and two daughters, all the other citizens of the twin cities decided not to turn from their wicked ways of homosexuality, incest, fornication, and serving strange gods. That tells me they decided to enter into the smoking section of eternal life.

But if we look back (Gen. 19:26), we would see that Lot's wife looked back at Sodom and Gomorrah and became a pillar of salt, meaning she went up in smoke.

I am asking all who are reading this article to never smoke or stop smoking. God has a plan for our lives, and it's in the non-smoking section of eternal life which is Heaven. The non-smoking section has one rule, "Ye must be born again." (John 3:5)

So from now on, please think before you "smoke." May the Lord of Heaven and Earth richly bless you throughout all eternity. Amen.
