Love For Christmas
By Mara Krall

I walked out of a busy Christmas store
When I saw a street beggar, worn and sore.
I don't know why, but I suddenly turned around
And started to cry.

Everyone was buying gifts and bundles of joy
For all the little girls and boys.
Then I heard a voice from above
Saying, "Give the gift of love."

I turned around and said, "Come with me."
When her gloomy face turned to me
I pulled out a coin from my bag that I got for myself
And said, "Merry Christmas from one of God's little elves."
