His Love in Action School for the Deaf
Tegucigalpa, Honduras

His Love in Action School for the Deaf began in 1989. Carmen Linder began the school after her daughter was diagnosed as deaf. Since that time, over 300 deaf children have attended the school.

The school began in a one room building and is now meeting in a 14 room building. They will soon move into another larger building.

The mission of the school is stated on their web site. It says,"Imagine a silence so encompassing that you exist in complete isolation. Living in absolute isolation not just because you cannot hear, but because you also cannot communicate.

That is the daily reality for thousands of deaf children in Honduras. Hearing impaired children in Honduras cannot even communicate with other deaf children, because they don't have the basic tool of a common sign language. The truth is that these children will enter into prostitution, substance addiction, and malnutrition if someone does not intervene. They are living in a world deaf to their needs. It's time we broke that silence."

The school gladly accepts help from volunteers who want to spend time in Honduras for short-term mission trips.
