This school is the oldest school for disabled students in Asia. It is in the country of India. It was established in 1885. The school accepts all students no matter which caste they are in or which religion they practice. The classes are taught in 3 languages: Hindi, English, and Marathi.

The city that this school is in is now named Mumbai, but in the past, it was named Bombay. It was named Bombay when the British were the rulers of India. The named changed to Mumbai in 1995. Mumbai is the second largest city in the world. Over 13 million people live in Mumbai.

This school does not discriminate according to caste. That means that anyone can go to this school The caste system in India says that people are in different social levels. Some levels are higher and more important than others. There are 5 levels in the caste system. They are:

Brahman (priests)

Kshatriya (rulers, warriors, people who own land)

Vaishya (merchants–people who sell things)

Shudra (people who work with their hands and farmers)

Harijans (people who are not in any caste)
