It is Ebenezer fellowship of the Deaf that brought all deaf and mute Christians from different denominations together for worship in Kerala, land known for its Christian tradition ever since the coming of St. Thomas, a great disciple of Jesus Christ in A.D. 52. First it was started in a rented building in 1989 and 1993 a small building was built for prayer and worship. Slowly it is spreading to different places by the grace of God.
So far no denomination in India built a worship place for deaf and mute. It might not be possible for all Christians to have such worship place, but in Kerala it is not that difficult as 20% of the population is Christians as against 2% in other parts of the country.
As Seeds-India understood the importance of spreading gospel among the 400,000 deaf and mute in Kerala. So it started Ebenezer Fellowship homes which in turn gave inspiration to start various small prayer centres for them.
Under the auspices of this fellowship a three-day Seminar is organized every year for Bible Study and other problems faced by deaf and mute. Once in a year Sports and Arts meet are held for the deaf-mute. Handicraft training is being given to these people to make them stand on their feet. They can paint beautiful Christmas & Greeting cards on Pipal leaves.
Sunday worships in Ebenezer Fellowship starts at 9:30 till 1 P.M. with participation of nearly 30 members. Special Bible classes are held by Bible Scholars.
We request you to pray for these Deaf and Mute brothers and sisters who do not have much to make both ends meet.
l. To reach gospel to these people through Christian Publications.
2. To train Missionaries.
3. To find proper market for selling greeting cards and Christmas cards made by the Deaf-Mute and Destitute girls.
With deep sense of gratitude and faith in God we present this report for your information. We are also thankful to all magnanimous people who helped us to serve the Deaf-Mute brothers and sisters.
