IT HAPPENED

I am a young active man of 27 years. Life is now a struggle in Ghana due to some political and economic issues. Primarily, me seems its basically due to some trivial social problems contributing to this my situation now.

It happened!!! I was barely 2 years when this happened, my mother always blame herself for what happened but it's all the same perhaps if it didn't happen no one knows what would happen then. My mother left me on a bed when I was asleep and decided to go to market and find something for dinner. It was alleged that no sooner my mother left I suddenly fell from the long-legad bed and sustained some injuries on my back bone and my head and this affected my Nervous system. My mother return to find me on the ground crying solemnly. I was immediately sent to the nearest hospital and I was admitted. In the next morning the doctor made it clear to my parents that extra vigillance should be taken about my situation because it could leads or end me in deaf. in the future or it could leads to my death. Suddenly, fear and sadness, sorrow and sigh came into my mother's heart. I was the first born so my father did everything he could but the unfortunate happened.

After three days, I recovered but I wasn't able to talk or hear anymore, my mother was so worried about this tragedy but it's nature, what would happened no matter what man do it would come. It ends me up in becoming a deaf. This was eventually a big ban to my young nuclear family.

My father as a very responsible man promised to make me as happy as he can in the future. When I reached the school going age, I was sent to SAVELUGU school of the Deaf in 1980. I by God's grace passed the nine year basic education successfully in 1991. After I was send to BECHEM Vocational School to take a dressmaking/tailoring course for 3 years and completed in 1995. My father was transferred from Tamale where we are for all my life to a new city and so he came along with us to our new home. Life here as compared to Tamale is somehow contradictory. Foodstuffs seem to be cheap in Tamale while some secondary consumable goods there as compared to this city are expensive.

My father was a truthful and progidy man, patient and lenient and very hospital. In the workplace he do everything and tackle every bull by the horn. This generated jealousy in this workplace he got so many enemies in the workplace. His hardworking ends him in promotion. He was promoted to a higher position. This brought much hatred in his colleagues in the workplace. He was poisoned in the workplace. The effect came upon him as a stomach ache. He broke the back of the situation for his life but he didn't succeed. He later died in January, 2001.

Life after my father's death has never be easy for me. And now I have to struggle alongside with my mother to cater for the family. It's in the light of this that I say sometimes that "God is the best to throw your burdens to." By the help of God I now have a small tailoring shop and self employed. I pray to God to give me a better life through somebody in the future because I have hope only in nobody but God. "Shall I remain in the endless love of sea of God."

I joined the Central Regional Association of the Deaf in 1996. It is in this Association that I made many friends. I sometimes feel lonely in the house so I sometime walk or sit by the road side to see whether some of my friends will pass by.

On 1st April, 2001 I got to know about this I think is a Godsend world to me, "Deaf Friends International." I've now decided to join in order to get outside help. And since Jesus Christ remains as the Only Son of God I will get my heartwant help. Now I say to you all "God bless you and keep fit."
