Gehörlosen Club St. Gallen
(Deaf Club St Gallen)
SWITZERLAND

Letter

In Switzerland, there are about 10,000 deaf people. Approximately 50% of the deaf people are organized in clubs or associations. The sense of community is very important for the deaf.

At the Gehörlosen Club St. Gallen, the members
meet weekly to train in different kinds of sports. Some of the members compete in hearing championships (soccer, volleyball, bowling). Other members compete in other sports in national deaf championships.

The club also has other social activities for the members. They have picnics, theater, bazaars, dating, women's and mothers' meetings, and activities for young people.
