Establishment Palestinian benevolent society of the deaf in 1995 and got the authorization number: NA / 804 / C the consequent from the Ministry of Interior is Palestine.

Before its getting the authorization there is an activity the society in the work for the establishment of its connection from the deaf and the work together for the sake of the service of the deaf in all the social and economic fields and the educational .

Palestinian benevolent society of the deaf is a non-governmental organization it is cared about the deaf rights and it works on integration the deaf in the local society, The Palestinian charity association for deaf was founded by a national goodwill from category that was and is still scare of a good turn inside the Palestinian society and with popular financing a dependent based on the dignity , the freedom and the equality .

Aims :

1. The work for their integration with the local society

2. The consciousness is by the social development concept aiming for the change towards the better.

3.An organization and coordination of the efforts with the non- governmental voluntary organizations working in the social work field.

4. crowd and directing the society efforts in the voluntary work field for the sake of its deaf services and the realization of their aspiration and all their needs answer it in the fields of the development

5. The aid of the deaf in doing their role and the superiority over their problems and directing them true directing so that they can live at a dignity .

6. The establishment of the rounds is cultural .

7. The aid of the needy deaf and the taking by their hand towards a better life

8. The establishment of vocational rounds like the sewing and the carpentry ....And so on.

9. The development of skills and the abilities of the productive .

10. The work for the establishment of operational projects.

11. The aid of the deaf from the health side and the provision of the treatment by the less costs

12. The execution of the entertaining trips that relieves the same deaf and feels the safety .

13. The consolidation of relations and links with the organizations and the non- governmental and international organizations and crowd the capacities and their organization for the execution of the society projects and their programs .

The programs that the society presents :

1. The preparation of translator the sign language

2. The preparation of adminstrative

3. The communication with the local and international society.

4. The vocational , training rounds , the educational and signal

5. The trips entertaining

6. The social solidarity program.

7. The literacy program .

 

The projects that the society intend their establishment :

The Palestinian charity association for deaf administration is intend now to the study of its total from the charitable projects with the public interest to the society and for the deaf and that from its affair if it contributes in the expansion of the social services fields that Palestinian charity association for deaf and that so that it prevails the interest on category of the deaf .

 

1. The construction of a headquarters to Palestinian charity association for deaf administration offices and their services in a suitable form .

2. The preparation of industrial workshops for a qualification and the employment of the unemployed about the work:

Where that there are many of the deaf is unemployed and that the spread of the poverty is largely between category of the deaf, Palestinian charity association for deaf administration plans for the establishment of suitable place preparation that contains an industrial workshops ( carpentry , smith and automobiles mechanics and other from the works that are possible if qualifies of the deaf and the investment of the unemployed from them .

3. The establishment of a new educational headquarters

Because of the lack of the local society from the new educational programs the instructor of the deaf children, the Palestinian charity association for deaf wants an establishment and it builds such institute so that it provides all upbringing requirements and the education to the deaf children .

4. Car project of the society

The society seeks and since its extension to the provision of a car to the Palestinian charity association for deaf for the sake of the facilitation of the deaf move to the society and specially the children .

5. The literacy project.

The educational services offered to the deaf in Palestine prepare in general a very few and also in Nablus region then it's absent relatively because of the less programs of the educational projects directed to the deaf, therefore the illiteracy ratio is in continuous increase they come to more than 30 % of the deaf in Nablus and Jenin . Therefore, the Palestinian charity association for deaf seeks the establishment of the literacy programs so that it targets the deaf young especially and the rest of the deaf in general .

The Palestinian Sign Language

When a developmental team worked to develop the Palestinian Sign Language, they were forced to study the many sign languages used in Palestine. They noticed the usage of different sign languages due to the different areas. And that was the main base for developing the Palestinian Sign Language. In fact, many problems are noticed between the deaf in Palestine. And those are the most important ones:

The differences between the Local Palestinian Sign Languages.

The illiteracy between the deaf.

The social and economical problems.

The lack of having professions ( jobs ) for the deaf.

The results of these problems forced us to use yearly plans to stop the illiteracy between the deaf and to develop the sign language here in Palestine.

In 2006, the yearly plan helped to develop a project which aimed to:

Spreading the sign language in the local and international societies.

Stopping the illiteracy between the deaf.

Developing the productive projects.

The summary of the activities of the projects

In each step of the project, we concentrated on 30 persons of the deaf. We helped them to:

Learn the Palestinian Sign Language.

Stop their illiteracy.

Depend on themselves.

Inter the social life.

Those deaf take 100 hours to erase their illiteracy and to concentrate on learning things like: Math, Science and the local language.

Other 100 hours are taken by the deaf to learn the Palestinian Sign Language. The hours are divided in this way: 70 hours of them are given to learn the Sign Language and 30 hours are to teach the deaf ways to inter the social and local life.

After that, they are given lectures to learn how to be independent in their society.

At the final stage or step of the project, the administration of the association works to help the deaf more to inter the local and social life through those ways:

Teaching the deaf professions or crafts.

Establishing productive projects.

Helping the deaf to find jobs.]

The continuity of the project

The local developmental experts depend on the importance of the project, so they put plans which are developing for the continuity of the project. They depend on the coming yearly plans. We noticed that the continuity of our project depends on the small productive projects

and selling the products of the deaf as well as a CD to teach the Palestinian Sign Language. This CD costs 100 dollar and it is available in the local and international markets.

We evaluate the project in the first half of this year and we achieved the followings:

Marketing a lot of the deaf products.

Marketing a big number of the CDs to teach the Palestinian Sign Languages.

Developing the small productive projects.

Seeking other deaf people to be helped in our projects.
