REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO

CEESCO--South Kivu
From Révérend Past MULUNGULA LWESSO
Translated into English by Jack Speese

We are a community of Protestant churches for the deaf in Congo (CEESCO), headquartered in South Kivu at Bukavu. We have a congregation of more than 90 deaf people in our three churches located in the communes of Ibanda, Bagira, and Idjui, and in the near future, in Uvira also.

Our deaf members are abandoned today not only by people without handicaps but also by the local churches. Due to the lack of transportation we find it very difficult to minister to them as they are scattered all around. We minister to them spiritually but material aid as well as nourishment is much needed and essential. You understand that the burden is not easy for us, although among them there are many with diverse occupations, they don't have their own land or property where they can establish their own businesses and work. In order to accomplish this, our needs are great. We appeal with open hands to your generosity and hope that you will contact us soon.
