Dear Friends,
My name is Malene Andersen and I am 22. I was born in Poland and I am Polish
living in Denmark for two years now. I have emigrated from
Poland two years ago. At the moment I am learning
Danish in school for deaf people in Denmark.
Although Danish is quite difficult I have already
learned speaking and writing in Danish. I would like also to
have friends from Japan and China, but I have no addresses. If you
have addressed of deaf friends from around the world,
please write to me and I shall write to you too. I am waiting !!!
The poem for deaf people
I am grateful for making my conversation
with you possible.
I know that you cannot
hear me, but I can still hear you.
Deaf people confirm by gesture full of
words,
persistently glaring at the mouth of
interpreter.
Skills of reading lips became a godsend for many deaf people.
They are sitting in a semicircle to better see the interpreter and the speaker.
One asked for
"pronunciation" of "blue sky" which has no
equivalent in sign language.
Then an explanation follows, "the sky with no clouds", and
glance up to the top.
This is the "blue sky".
Enormous emotional involvement.
The full integration of
the asking, the interpreter and the deaf people.
The faces are showing a glimpse of
sadness, joy and tears....
