Abused Deaf Women’s Advocacy Services
www.adwas.org

This organization helps deaf woman who have been abused or sexually assaulted. They help the women make plans to stay in a safe place. Then they help them if they need to contact lawyers, hospitals, police, etc.

ADWAS is a partner to a violence hotline that deaf women can contact if they are having trouble. The hotline is called the National Domestic Violence Hotline. When a deaf woman contacts the Hotline, the staff can help them and give them advice.

ASWAS also has a program named "Positive Deaf Parenting". They teach deaf parents how to discipline their children, how to interact with their teenage children, and how to teach their children about drug and alcohol abuse.

ADWAS built a new building that is a shelter for women who are being abused. The building is located in Seattle, Washington, USA.

ADWAS also provides help to children whose lives are affected by domestic violence or sexual assault.. They also hold training sessions and workshops to teacher children and adults about domestic violence.

If you or someone you know needs to contact the Hotline, please call the videophone 206-787-3224 or send an email to: ADWAS@ndvh.org
