Dovenshoah is an organization in The
Netherlands. The purpose of DovenSHOAH is to
capture and publish the history of Jewish
deaf people during World War II.
During the war, many Jewish deaf people
were were taken away and killed by the
Germans. The foundation wants to make sure
that these Jewish deaf people will never be
forgotten. On October 17, 2010, a special
monument was set up to honor them. The
monument is near a school for the deaf in
Amsterdam, the John. C. Amman School. During
the war, the school was where the German
soldiers gathered the deaf people before
they took them away to the concentration
camps.
