I am not deaf. I came to visit your site because I am looking for deaf
friends. I am starting school in May to become Certified in ASL so that I
may answer my God given calling to counsel people who are deaf and hearing
impaired in the area of substance abuse. I have 3 cousins that are deaf
and I am a recovering crack addict. 12 years clean and sober by the grace
of GOD. I am clean because I was able to HEAR a message of healing.
I had a friend who was hearing imparied and she used to go to N.A. and A.A.
meetings. She stayed clean for about 3 months, but a lot of days she came
to meetings with life on life term issues but either no one knew how to talk to
her or her back was turned (class room setting), when someone was sharing the
solution. As a result, she always ended up going back to a life of self
destruction. My cousins (deaf), taught me how to fingerspell when I was 9
years old. I am 46 years old now and I want to love and help the deaf
community. I am a Nurse Tech at a prominent hospital and sometimes I am
called to interpret for a deaf patient. I don't feel like I am helping
much by just fingerspelling so I start school in May 2005 to become certified.
I feel that my spiritual purpose in life is to love God and help the deaf
community to become drug-free, because drugs are attacking your lives also and,
through GOD, I CAN HELP! So ... I was just visiting here in hopes of
finding someone (or many people), that I can befriend and practice signing with.
But only those that are willing to be loved. GOD BLESS YOU ALL. "If
every soul saves a soul, every soul will be saved."

enjoyed reading the review of WALKING FREE: THE NELLIE ZIMMERMAN STORY,

I found on this website. The review was very accurate, to the point,

well written. This review left out one important factor, however. Mrs
Boggs-Qualls
is almos totally deaf herself and I am extremely hard of hearing.
