D.A.R.E

My name is Viridiana Alvarez and I am a sixth grader in elementary school. I liked being in the D.A.R.E. program because I liked listening to Office Brady. She told us many things about drugs. Office Brady was fun and loves teasing with kids. I was very interested when Officer Brady brought the D.A.R.E video tape. I was excited when Officer Brady gave us a game to play.

Officer Brady showed us the D.A.R.E. rules. We have 8 ways to say 'NO'!. Saying 'No Thanks, giving a reason or excuse or etc. That's what we learned. Officer Brady asked us lots of questions about drugs. I think we're lucky to have Officer Brady because sometimes other schools don't have a D.A.R.E. Police Officer to teach them.

I learned that it is important to be drug-free and avoid violence because if we aren't drug-free, we will be in lots of trouble with the law. Police can arrest us and we would go to jail. Doing drugs is breaking the law. We should obey the law because the law is important. Drugs will mess up your brain, your future, and your job. You'll be poor because drugs are expensive and you're hooked! You will lose your job because you're hooked on drugs and you will have no future. No one will want to marry you. You will be very lonely.

I used to think that smoking was cool but Officer Brady told us if you're smoking then you're not cool.  So I better not smoke because I want to be cool. We learned a lot about drugs.
