First time in a Christian camp

On August 6th to 17th, deaf children and hearing impaired children spent a vacations in the camp Rovestnik. There were children from Kursk, Yoshkar-Ola, Tula, Bryansk - 50 children in all organized in 6 groups.

The camp is located in the vicinity of the city of Bryansk, about an hour of bus riding away, in a very picturesque area, near to the "Partisan meadow" in the woods.

I was the leader of the camp. There were 6 to 8 children in each group. It was difficult to manage them in the beginning, but they quickly adapted and soon got accustomed to one another.

There was no swimming pool in the camp - it was a big disadvantage. The weather was hot, and the children were missed the pool very much.

I like children, and I enjoy socializing with them, but it is also a very responsible work. I always wanted to work as a teacher in a school for deaf children. But I couldn't go to school because I had to earn a living. Now I am 34 years old, and it's too late to study.

In the camp, together with the children, we had organized a Bible hour, various games, singing songs, videos, as well as prepared and performed a concert for the parents' visit.

The children were involved very much. They liked the camp and are making plans to go there again in the future.

It was the first time deaf children were in the camp. They are grateful forever to the priest of the Resurrection Church of Bryansk, Sergei Khokhlov, for organizing the camp. It is a noble cause; may God bless it!

All I was sorry about was that my husband was at home alone again when I left. I go to church, work, take care of my home, study the Bible, and I have little time and attention left for my husband. He resents it. Besides I have daughter Julia; I love her, take care of her, and I help her. I pray to God to help and protect my husband. My husband, Alexei, is very talented. He has "golden hands" - he draws very well. It was him who designed the art for my past DFI article. He is also a skillful tailor. But he is losing his strength because he is very ill, and nobody can help him. God is our last hope! Oh Lord, help him to get better.

I like to work with deaf children. Without Christ, deaf children are spiritually dead. We have to save them, to teach them God's love. I still do not have enough experience in working with children. I wish to learn more and to acquire more experience.

In the camp we had very good leaders from Kursk - Dima, hearing with good command of sign language, 18 years old; Vova Voronin, deaf, 29 years old; and Alexei Volodin - deaf, 34 years old, from Bryansk, happily married. These are wise, sensitive, patient, hard working men who love helping children. Thanks to them from all the children.

God bless you.
