CHRISTIAN EDUCATION FOR ALMOST ONE-THIRD OF A CENTURY
by Stan Griffin
"One of the best-kept secrets in Cincinnati" celebrated its 30th anniversary on June 15-16. Temple Baptist College held its commencement ceremony with evangelist Jerry Falwell as graduation speaker.
A small, liberal arts institution, Temple holds all classes in one building situated on an eight-acre campus in suburban Springdale. The entire enrollment numbers about 140 students; this year's graduating class was 22. Their curriculum is "based on Baptist values."
Temple's major goal is to "educate preachers," but it also offers majors in business administration and education. This year's graduates received bachelor of science degrees, and master's and doctoral degrees in biblical studies and religious education.
Graduates can now be certified to teach in Ohio's Christian schools. Later this year the college hopes to gain recognition from the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges. That organization is especially important to Temple because it is approved by the U. S. Department of Education.
In his address, Rev. Falwell urged graduates to complete the "race of life" with dignity, saying that "it is important that you finish well ... with Christ as Lord."
